The solo developer behind GiftSong
GiftSong is built by Junling Fu, an independent iOS developer. One person, one product, a simple mission: make it effortless for anyone to gift a song in their own voice.
Why GiftSong exists
The most meaningful gifts are personal — not expensive. Greeting cards feel thoughtful because the handwriting is yours. A voicemail from someone you love is irreplaceable for the same reason. Songs have always been the exception: to gift one, you had to either commission a professional musician or send something generic.
GiftSong closes that gap. Record 30 seconds of your voice once, write a short message, and in a few minutes you have a fully produced song — sung by you, not a stock AI voice. It's the handwritten card, reinvented as a song.
About Junling
Junling has built consumer iOS apps for the better part of a decade. GiftSong is a solo project: the iOS app (Swift, SwiftUI), the backend (Cloudflare Workers, D1, R2), and the web experience at giftsong.net — all designed and shipped by one person.
Being a solo developer shapes GiftSong's values. There is no growth team, no ads sold to third parties, no dark patterns around cancellation. Every decision is one Junling makes, and every piece of feedback reaches the person who can act on it. If you email [email protected], you reach Junling directly.
How GiftSong is built
GiftSong uses a proprietary pipeline combining AI lyric generation (fine-tuned for heartfelt, scene-specific writing), voice cloning from a 30-second sample, and a music synthesis engine that produces full-production tracks in genre-appropriate arrangements. Importantly:
- Your voice sample is yours. It is encrypted at rest and never used to train shared or public models.
- Only you can clone your voice. The app only accepts voice recordings made live within the app — uploaded audio files of other people are not supported.
- You can delete everything. One tap in Settings removes your voice model and all associated songs. No "30-day grace period," no email chasers.

What's next
GiftSong launched in April 2026 on iOS. Every week brings feedback from real users — a grandmother who used it for her grandson's birthday, a long-distance couple who sent songs across continents, a bride who surprised her wedding party. Those stories drive the roadmap:
- More scene templates (current count: 20 across love, family, holidays, and fun categories)
- Deeper language support — English, Spanish (Spain & Mexico), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch at launch; more to come
- Apple Intelligence + Siri Shortcuts integration for creating songs hands-free
- Collaboration tools for group gifts — weddings, retirements, big birthdays
